About Hamburg Airport
Hamburg Airport is located in northern Germany. It was originally built in 1911 and it has served many different purposes throughout the years. Since it was built roughly one century ago, it is easily the oldest operational airport in Germany. In 1993, Terminal 2 was built. However, at the time, it was not called Terminal 2. It didn’t become Terminal 2 until Terminal 1 was constructed in 2005. Airport Plaza, which connects the two terminals, was built in 2008. Airport Plaza is also the location of the central security checkpoint, as well as several shops, restaurants, and lounges.
As far as the levels go, it’s easy to remember that Level 0 is for arrivals and Level 1 is for departures. Level 0 has 14 baggage claims, which is a hint at this airport’s enormous size.
